AltaPointe Health Partners With Alabama Police Department On Mental Health Crisis Response 

Health system operator AltaPoint Health is teaming up with police in Mobile, Alabama, to offer a service designed to enhance public safety and reduce law enforcement response to nonviolent mental health crises. Police patrol vehicles in Mobile will have installed iPads, which officers can use to connect;individuals in a crisis with clinicians at AltaPointe. ;

Immediate access to a clinician through the iPads;is intended to allow for intervention, de-escalation, and referrals for appropriate treatment or follow-up. The program is designed to follow a successful model implemented in Harris County, Texas. ;
