Anthem Partners With Walmart To Expand Access To Over-The-Counter Drugs

Anthem and Walmart are partnering to expand access to over-the-counter (OTC) medications for consumers. The partnership will allow Anthem’s Medicare Advantage members to begin using their OTC plan allowance to purchase medications and other supplies at Walmart stores beginning in January 2019.

The partnership will greatly expand consumers’ access and options when purchasing OTC medications, as Walmart has 4,700 locations. According to Walmart, 90% of Americans live within 10 miles of a Walmart location, allowing Anthem members to have more flexibility in their shopping methods, as well as save money in out-of-pocket costs.
