Bioness Medical Acquires The Portable Neuromodulation Stimulator System
Bioness Medical, Inc. (Bioness) has acquired the Portable Neuromodulation Stimulator (PoNS) System product line, adding non-invasive central neuromodulation to its existing portfolio of rehabilitation technologies. Financial terms were not disclosed. Bioness indicated that the acquisition will also support expanded research and development efforts, including clinical programs that explore combination therapy using both functional electrical stimulation (FES) and neuromodulation.
The PoNS System has been studied in those with chronic neurological conditions and has shown improvements in gait and balance when used as part of a supervised rehabilitation program.
