Blue Shield of California restructured to create a new non-profit corporate entity called Ascendiun which launched on January 1, 2025. Ascendiun now functions as a parent company to a family of three organizations:

Blue Shield of California and its subsidiary, Blue Shield of California Promise Health Plan, a Medicaid managed care organization with 575,000 members across Los Angeles and San Diego counties.

Altais, a clinical services firm focused on value-based care (VBC) arrangements and co-creating solutions with clinical professionals to optimize operations, workflow, and technology to support participation in VBC arrangements.
