Bon Secours Health System (Bon Secours) and Mercy Health (Mercy) recently announced the new name of the entity being formed by their merger, as well as their new CEO. The new health system will be named Bon Secours Mercy Health, and its CEO will be John M. Starcher Jr, Mercy’s current CEO.
The new formed health system will be the fifth largest Catholic health system in the United States. Additionally, the health system will have $8 billion in net operating revenue, as well as $293 million in operating income. Between the two organizations, the new system will serve more than 10 million consumers across 43 hospitals spanning seven states. It is anticipated that the merger will finalize in the fall.
Bon Secours Health System, Inc. owns, manages, and joint ventures acute-care hospitals, a psychiatric hospital, nursing care facilities, assisted living facilities, and home care and hospice services. Mercy Health Network is an integrated system of hospitals, clinics and other health care services and facilities throughout Iowa.
