California College Launches Juvenile Justice Education Initiative with $1.5 Million Grant
California’s College of the Desert is launching a new educational initiative aimed at young adults who have experience with the juvenile detention system. The program will begin in fall 2024.
It will offer on-site classes for incarcerated young adults. It will also focus on outreach and resources for those with previous incarceration histories. ;
The school said it expects to enroll about 50 participants for the first semester. The initiative is funded by a grant of more than $1.5 million from the California Community College’s Rising Scholars Network.;
