California’s Santa Clara County reached a tentative agreement with HCA Healthcare to purchase Regional Medical Center (RMC) in San Jose for $175 million. The county plans to integrate the facility into its county-operated Santa Clara Valley Healthcare system. 

The county said it would pay for the 252-bed hospital through approved FEMA reimbursements from COVID-19 pandemic county response efforts. The county said the one time-funds are expected to be received over the next few months and are "appropriate to utilize to invest in acquiring RMC without negatively impacting the rest of the county budget.”
