California, Rhode Island & Wisconsin Sue Trump Administration Over Cuts To Special Education Grants

California Attorney General Rob Bonta filed a multistate lawsuit asking a federal court to declare the Trump administration's cancellation of special education personnel development grants unlawful. The grant program, established in 2004 under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), funds professional development for special education staff and support services for children with disabilities.

The suit, filed Tuesday in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, challenges the U.S. Department of Education's termination of State Personnel Development Grants (SPDG) awarded to California, Rhode Island, and Wisconsin.
