Contra Costa County, California Breaks Ground On Its First Mental Health Rehabilitation Center
Contra Costa County, California broke ground on a new 45-bed mental health rehabilitation center (MHRC) in Richmond, the first of its kind in the county. The new Contra Costa Recovery Center will renovate and repurpose an existing county-owned building on the Brookside Shelter campus into a secure residential facility offering longer-term treatment and stabilization services for adults with serious mental illness.
MHRCs provide sub-acute treatment for people who require extended stabilization after stays in acute care hospitals, state hospitals, or detention settings. These locked facilities serve individuals who need intensive support during recovery.
