CVS Health Leaves U.S. Chamber Of Commerce
CVS Health announced it is ending its membership with the United States Chamber of Commerce because of the group's stance on tobacco deregulation. The drugstore and pharmacy benefits manager stopped selling cigarettes and other tobacco products in 2014 at its stores in a quest to become more of a healthcare destination. CVS reported that the company made $2 billion in sales by selling tobacco products in 2014. The move comes as a way to bolster its image as a health services provider rather than a basic drug store. CVS has 7,800 drugstores across the U.S.
