DeliverLean, a company that delivers meals made with organically grown products announced it is expanding its footprint with the launch of a new program for seniors called DeliverLean CARE in partnership with Humana and CarePlus Health Plans. The launch is set for January 2020. DeliverLean CARE will deliver meals to some Humana and CarePlus Medicare Advantage members who are discharged from hospitals. The meals will be paid for by the individuals health plan, and will be provided at no additional charge.

This is the latest project in DeliverLean’s expansion. Under the leadership of Scott Harris, founder and chief executive officer of DeliverLean, the company has grown at an unprecedented rate and is still expanding. DeliverLean CARE’s senior meals will address different chronic health conditions like diabetes, heart disease, and cardiovascular disease. A team of world class chefs and dietitians designed six specialty meal plans including General Wellness, Diabetic (Carb-Controlled), Low Sodium, Vegetarian, Pureed, and Kosher. The menu items focus on transparency of ingredients and take into consideration comfort foods and the simplicity of meals for seniors.

According to Mr. Harris, the partnership with Humana and CarePlus Health Plans will increase members’ access to healthy food options in the hopes of reducing health care costs and utilization.┬áThe company currently operates out of a 60,000-square-foot USDA/FDA-certified kitchen in Hollywood, Florida and employs upwards of 300 people.

Founded in 2011, DeliverLean’s mission is to help consumers eat healthy and live better by providing dietitian-approved, nutritionally tailored meals delivered directly to the home. DeliverLean’s partners include Baptist Health South Florida, CarePlus Health Plans, the Cleveland Clinic, and Humana.
