A new training program, Digital Opportunities For Outcomes In Recovery Services (DOORS), can help consumers get the full benefit of innovative digital mental health tools, according to a study published in the March issue of Journal of Psychiatric Practice. While most individuals with serious mental illness now have access to smartphones, a “second digital divide” has become apparent: they may lack the skills needed to effectively use digital technologies to support mental health. The DOORS program applies evidence-based principles allowing individuals with serious mental illness to reap the full benefits of digital mental health tools and resources.
