Edgewood Care Centre For Adults With Mental Health Or Cognitive Problems In Ontario, Canada To Close In September 2026

Edgewood Care Centre in Ottawa's Overbrook neighborhood is expected to close by September 30, 2026. The facility is currently home to just over 100 adults living with significant mental health or cognitive issues. Edgewood says that it will help residents explore their options for relocation.

The reason stated for the closure is that the facility is antiquated and requires upgrades. These needs make its continued provision of long-term housing, meals and other basic support for vulnerable adults impossible. The organization attempted to find a purchaser to continue operations, but was unsuccessful.
