Episcopal Health Services Launches ‘Food As Medicine’ Pilot Program In Partnership With Campaign Against Hunger
Episcopal Health Services (EHS), a health system in Queens, New York, announced the launch of a “Food As Medicine” pilot program, designed to improve health outcomes by addressing the link between nutrition and chronic disease management. The pilot is taking place in partnership with Campaign Against Hunger.
The pilot program is designed for adults over the age of 18 with Stage 2 hypertension who have experienced multiple hypertensive crises–requiring at least four visits to the emergency department or their primary care physician in the past year–and who also face food insecurity.
