Erlanger Agrees To Take Over North Carolina Hospital

Erlanger Health System (Erlanger), Chattanooga’s largest hospital network, recently announced it will be acquiring North Carolina’s Murphy Medical Center. Under the terms of the current offer, Erlanger would take control of the hospital by April 1, 2018.

Murphy Medical Center currently contains 25 beds and over 400 employees, but should obtain more medical staff and connections through Erlanger. Additionally, the center—which has indicated the need to be part of a larger system to survive—should benefit from the deal by improving its medical services under Erlanger.
