Family Hospital System Closes Two Nebraska Hospitals  

Texas-based Family Hospital Systems closed two hospitals in Nebraska in 2024. The closures at Family Hospital in Papillion, Nebraska, and Family Hospital at Millard in Omaha, Nebraska, resulted in 72 layoffs, according to Family Hospital Systems Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Henry Higgins. ;

Becker’s Hospital Review reported both sites were shut abruptly – the Omaha site in January, and the Papillon site in late March. Dr. Higgins said the facilities had been close to receiving accreditation for CMS reimbursement. He said they closed for financial reasons.
