Massachusetts-based Five Star Senior Living announced plans to close Cherry Hill Senior Living on Cooper Landing Road in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. Cherry Hill offers assisted-living and memory-care services, as well as short-term stays. The company’s announcement did not identify a shutdown date; however as of October 13, 2020, the property was no longer listed on the Five Star Senior Living website.
According to a now-removed statement, Five Star said it regularly assesses “the resident experience we are able to offer as compared to the expectations of our customers and the other offerings in the marketplace. ” Following this evaluation, the company said that it “has made the difficult decision to close Cherry Hill Senior Living.” Five Star has also noted the economic impact of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), reporting higher costs and lower occupancy.
Five Star’s statement said it is working “with residents and families to ensure a smooth transition in accordance with local, state, federal, and (Centers for Disease Control) guidelines.” Five Star said they are committed to supporting any affected employees.
The Cooper Landing Road facility was built in 1999 on a 5.5-acre property, according to Cherry Hill tax records. The center offers assisted-living and memory-care services, as well as short-term stays. As of June 30, 2020, Five Star Senior Living operated 265 senior living communities in 32 states.
