Georgia Lawmakers Approve PTSD, Intractable Pain As Qualifying Conditions

Georgia lawmakers recently approved an expansion to the state’s medical cannabis oil program that will include post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and intractable pain as qualifying conditions. Governor Nathan Deal will have 40 days to decide whether to sign or veto the legislation.

The decision, which passed with a vote of 38-14, could also continue into law without Governor Deal’s name on it, should he so choose. It is anticipated that through this expansion, less individuals suffering from PTSD will turn to highly addictive opioid painkillers to manage their pain, with cannabis oil serving as an effective . . .
