Greene Valley Developmental Center In Tennessee Is Closing
The Greene Valley Developmental Center, an institution for people with limited mental functioning located in Greeneville, Tennessee, will be closing by June of 2016. A federal judge approved a plan to close the facility, with that plan also calling for the remaining 96 residents to be moved to four- or eight-person homes with round-the-clock care. State officials align this move with a national effort to move people with disabilities out of large state-run institutions and integrate them into facilities with more homelike settings.
