Centerstone and The H Group, BBT, Inc., two leading non-profit behavioral healthcare organizations, have finalized an affiliation that combines their operations and expertise to advance behavioral healthcare nationwide. The affiliation was unanimously approved by the boards of directors of both organizations and became effective July 1, 2014.
“As we have explored bringing Centerstone and The H Group together over the past few months, we have grown even more excited about the possibilities we see to transform the delivery of care and improve the lives of people with mental illness, addictions and intellectual and developmental disabilities,” said David C. Guth, Jr., CEO of Centerstone. “It has been inspiring to see how well the missions, visions and strategic directions of our organizations align. We are thrilled to get this dynamic partnership started and excited about the future ahead of us.”
Centerstone and The H Group executed a letter of intent to pursue an affiliation in November 2013. The organizations conducted a period of due diligence and negotiated a definitive affiliation agreement, which was reviewed by the Attorneys General of the states of Tennessee and Illinois. As part of the final agreement reached, The H Group will become part of Centerstone, forming two new organizations, Centerstone of Illinois and Centerstone of Kentucky. John G. Markley, CEO of The H Group, has been tapped to serve as CEO of both organizations. All of The H Group’s clinics and locations will be renamed Centerstone over the next few weeks.
The combined Centerstone organization has 146 locations across Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky and Tennessee and approximately $160 million in annual revenues. It will employ more than 2,600 people and serve more than 84,000 individuals of all ages.
“This affiliation is an exciting development for our team, our clients and our communities,” said Markley. “By combining the expertise and resources of Centerstone and The H Group, we are well positioned to grow and thrive in the changing healthcare industry and have tremendous new opportunities to drive life-changing results for our clients and advance quality care across our industry.”
The H Group is the largest behavioral healthcare provider in Southern Illinois, with a 50-year history of serving children, youth, adults and families through mental health counseling, substance abuse treatment, life skills enrichment programs and services for adults with developmental disabilities. It serves nearly 9,000 clients at Illinois service centers in Franklin, Jackson, Williamson counties and in Western Kentucky. With more than 600 employees, The H Group is also one of its region’s top employers.
Centerstone and The H Group joining forces will be seamless for the organizations’ clients and communities. All Centerstone and The H Group addresses and phone numbers will remain the same and clients will continue to see their providers at the same locations.
