Hawaii Opens Behavioral Health Crisis Center Focused On Homelessness Services In Honolulu

Hawaii’s Department of Health (DOH) launched a new Behavioral Health Crisis Center (BHCC) at the Iwilei Resource Center in Honolulu. The facility will offer individuals who are homeless or at risk of homelessness short-term, sub-acute crisis services and linkages to other community resources. 

The facility is the first of its kind in the state. DOH said the BHCC will enable crisis care in a safe and nurturing environment. It aims to reduce use of hospital emergency rooms and minimize law enforcement involvement in assisting and transporting those in crisis. BHCC is set up to offer initial triage . . .
