HHS Renews Opioid Public Health Emergency For 90 More Days

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) announced that Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. renewed the public health emergency declaration addressing the opioid crisis, which will allow sustained federal coordination efforts and preserve key flexibilities to continue leveraging expanded authorities to conduct certain activities. The PHE was first declared in 2017 and has been continuously renewed in 90-day increments. The previous renewal was set to expire on March 21, 2025.
