Horizon BCBSNJ & Atlantic Health System Report Promising First-Year Outcomes Of Shared-Accountability Program

Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey (Horizon BCBSNJ) and Atlantic Health System reported promising first-year outcomes from their shared-accountability program. The arrangement has resulted in a reduction of more than 9% in unnecessary hospitalizations, and better overall health outcomes and consumer satisfaction. The total cost of care dropped by 5%. The Atlantic Health and Horizon BCBSNJ risk-sharing arrangement applies to approximately 30,000 Horizon BCBSNJ members served through Atlantic Health’s Clinically Integrated Network.
