Humana Inc. is launching 72 new Medicare Advantage plans for the 2022 plan year. The plans include 27 Special Needs Plans for people eligible for both Medicare and Medicaid (D-SNPs), 3 Medicare Advantage plans, and 42 Medicare Advantage Prescription Drug Plans. The plans will be available in hundreds of new counties.
Humana offers a wide choice of Medicare Advantage plans across the country. Its plan structures include health maintenance organizations (HMO), local and regional preferred provider organizations (LPPOs) and private fee-for-service (PFFS) plans. In 2022, Humana will expand its HMO offerings into 115 new counties and introduce LPPO plans in 162 new counties. Humana will expand its D-SNP coverage into 268 new counties.
Humana is a large health insurer. It has served Medicare beneficiaries for more than 30 years, with nearly 8.6 million Medicare members in all 50 states, Washington, D.C. and Puerto Rico, as of June 30, 2021. Nearly 4.9 million of its members are enrolled in a Medicare Advantage plan.
