Indiana University Launches $50 Million Investment To Fight Addiction Crisis
Indiana University (IU) recently announced that it will be making a $50 million investment to fight the opioid epidemic. Drug overdose deaths in Indiana have quadrupled since 1999.
The investment, named The Grand Challenge Project, will be spent over the next five years. The project will pool resources from all of IU’s campuses, IU Health, and Eskanazi Health to prevent and reduce opioid addiction in the state. Those resources will work together to utilize education, training, data collection and analysis, and community and workforce development to work towards that goal.
