Joette Katz Reappointed To Connecticut’s Top Child Welfare Job
Governor Dannel P. Malloy of Connecticut reappointed former state Supreme Court Justice Joette Katz to run Connecticut’s child welfare agency. The governor announced in December that Katz has proven she has “strong leadership capabilities” as well as compassion for the most vulnerable. Katz retired as an associate justice on the state’s highest court to become the Department of Children and Families commissioner in January 2011. Malloy cited various accomplishments during Katz’s tenure, including 764 fewer children in the Department of Children & Families (DCF) care, which represents a 16 percent decrease.
