Kansas City Approves Plan To Build Mental Health Hospital Near Downtown
Kansas City, Missouri’s city council approved a plan to build a mental health hospital on vacant land near downtown Kansas City. The project will be led by the Missouri Department of Mental Health (DMH) and University Health. The city said the earliest the hospital would open would be in 2027 or 2028.
The hospital is expected to serve as many as 200 consumers. The hospital may employ more than 600 staff when it is up and running.
