Massachusetts AG Approves Optum’s $236 Million Acquisition Of Non-Profit Atrius Health
The Massachusetts Attorney General’s office approved Optum’s plan to acquire non-profit Atrius Health for $236 million. Atrius Health is an independent physician organization. Optum is part of UnitedHealth Group; the deal was announced in March 2021.
The initial deal value was $73 million. After an earlier state review, Optum raised the deal value to $236 million. The terms call for the deal to fund a foundation with a charitable mission similar to the Atrius Health mission. Optum will also invest $200 million into Atrius over five years for professional recruitment and infrastructure.
