Mayo Clinic To Join Forces With Medica To Form New Insurance Company
Mayo Clinic (Mayo) recently announced it is partnering with fellow Minnesota-based Medica to form a new health insurance company. Although local centers will still provide the majority of services for consumers, the two Minnesota-based organizations will be able to offer insurance plans nationally.
The joining of forces between the two organizations follows a long history of partnership between them, notably most recently with Medica’s purchase in 2017 of Mayo’s MMSI, Inc. health services business. The aforementioned acquisition sees MMSI doing business as Mayo Clinic Health Solutions, which will begin using Medica’s technology platform in 2019 . . .
