Montana Gains Federal Approval For Medicaid Behavioral Health & Addiction Treatment At IMDs
The Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) announced that the state is increasing access to addiction disorder treatment for Montana Medicaid members who receive treatment at licensed addiction treatment provider organizations considered institutions for mental disease (IMD) because they have 17 or more beds. Normally, the federal Medicaid program will not provide financial participation for IMD services. Montana received federal approval to reimburse for short-term acute inpatient and residential IMD stays for addiction treatment.
