North Carolina Temporarily Assumes Leadership Of Bertie County Child Welfare
The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS) temporarily assumed leadership of child welfare services at the Bertie County Department of Social Services, as authorized under state law. Effective Monday, May 16, the state began reviewing the county's child welfare services after learning of serious concerns around its practice, delivery, and administration of child welfare services.
