New Pilot Program Aimed At Reducing Recidivism Approved For Centerstone In Louisville, Kentucky

Louisville's Metro council has approved $325,000 for a new pilot program for Centerstone, entitled Living Room. The program aims to create an environment in which people with serious behavioral issues can have 24/7 access to professional services and treatment.

Among the program's main goals is lowering the city's prison recidivism rates. More specifically, the city hopes to see less people imprisoned for short terms over minor offenses, such as loitering. Additionally, the program is anticipated to reduce issues of prison costs and jail overcrowding.
