Next Harris County Mental Health Leader Named

The agency in charge of Harris County’s mental services has chosen Wayne Young, a former Fort Worth administrator, as its new CEO. The Harris Center for Mental health and IDD (Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities) was formerly known as the Mental Health and Mental Retardation Authority of Harris County.

Young was the senior vice president of behavioral health for the Tarrant County Hospital District. He will succeed Steven Schnee, who has retired after 25 years as the Harris Center’s executive director.
