North Carolina Expands Minority Diabetes Prevention Program
The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS) announced the expansion of its Minority Diabetes Prevention Program (NC MDPP)—an initiative dedicated to reducing the rising rates of diabetes. The expansion includes its official program website and a statewide awareness campaign about the benefits of early screening.
As of 2023, more than 2.7 million North Carolinians have prediabetes, a condition where people have higher-than-normal blood glucose levels that is not yet high enough to be diagnosed as diabetes, according to the announcement.
