Northwestern University Launches Center Targeting Early Childhood Mental Health  

The new Mental Health, Earlier Center at Northwestern University in Illinois aims to address early signs of vulnerability to mental health problems among toddlers through routine pediatric care. The effort is funded by an $11.7 million award from the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) and based at Northwestern’s;Institute for Innovations in Developmental Sciences.;

Scientists from the Mental Health, Earlier Center previously created evidence-based developmental decision tools to determine “when to worry” about young children's mental health. The center will work with community pediatric partners as it adapts these tools for clinical care . . .
