Optum Plans To Acquire Massachusetts Reliant Medical Group

Minnesota-based OptumHealth (of UnitedHealthcare) revealed plans to acquire Massachusetts-based Reliant Medical Group. The 230-physician organization voted to approve the proposed acquisition on May 9, 2017.

The next step in the process is to draft and sign a formal acquisition agreement and obtain federal approval. Reliant plan to continue to govern the group locally and retain its brand; the medical group does not have plans to terminate any of its approximately 2,500 employees.
