Optum Rx Expands Support For Independent Pharmacies

Optum Rx is expanding support for independent pharmacies. It reimburses independent pharmacies in rural areas more than retail chain pharmacies and all affiliated pharmacies by 2-3% of average wholesale price. It has also eliminated all clawbacks and DIR fees. Optum Rx has no plans to reinstate them.

The expanded support builds on Optum Rx initiatives to address core problems cited by pharmacies such as drug dispensing reimbursement and limited resources supporting social drivers of health in pharmacy deserts.
