Oregon Department Of Human Services Sued For Decreasing In-Home Care
Oregon residents with special needs are suing the Oregon Department of Human Services (DHS) for cutting in-home care without explanation. It is estimated that thousands of special-needs residents will be affected by the cuts.
The cuts come after the agency implemented a needs assessment tool, but did not explain how the tool evaluated cases, or why care would change for residents already receiving assistance for their unchanging needs. The lawsuit asks the court to ensure the state provides adequate care to its residents, favors in-home and community-based treatments, and explains the reasons for cuts in services . . .
