Oregon Health & Science University & Legacy Health Call Off Merger

Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) and Legacy Health in Portland, Oregon entered into a mutual agreement to terminate their plans to combine to create an integrated health system. The merger had been announced in August 2023. It would have combined more than 32,000 employees and 100 locations. The announcement attributed the decision to the evolving operating environment. The termination announcement said the two organizations now believe the best way to meet the needs of the communities they serve in Oregon and Southwest Washington is to move forward as individual organizations.
