Oregon Health Sciences University Researchers Developing A Smartwatch Device To Detect Youth Mental Health Crisis
Researchers with Oregon Health Sciences University (OHSU) partnered with the semiconductor company Analog Devices, Inc. (ADI) to develop a smartwatch that will act as an early detection system for teenagers experiencing suicidality. The researchers plan to conduct a study in which in addition to using the ADI smartwatch, consenting adolescents and their parents will fill out daily diaries reporting stressful behaviors; complete validated suicidality measures multiple times a day; and receive follow-up care after the hospital.
