President Trump Names Eric Hargan Acting HHS Secretary
President Trump named Eric Hargan the new secretary for the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services (HHS). Mr. Hargan will replace Don J. Wright, who was temporarily filling in the position for the resigned Tom Price, M.D.
Previously, Mr. Hargan served in the Bush administration, as well as on President Trump’s HHS transition team. Those supportive of the confirmation have cited Mr. Hargan’s knowledge, expertise, and leadership experience. Opponents of the appointment have accused Mr. Hargan of posing a threat to the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.
