Protocol Behavioral Health Expands Into Illinois Through Partnership With Affiliated Oncologists
Protocol Behavioral Health (Protocol), which provides oncology-specific behavioral health services, announced its expansion into Illinois through a partnership with Affiliated Oncologists (AO), a community oncology practice with more than 45 health care professionals serving individuals across the south Chicago region.
More than half of people receiving cancer treatment experience anxiety, depression, trauma, or cognitive impairment, yet fewer than 10% receive behavioral health care. Community oncology practices often face challenges connecting patients to behavioral health services because of fragmented referral pathways, long waitlists, and a limited supply of health care professionals trained in psycho-oncology.
