Providence Alaska To Close Crisis Recovery Center That Provides Short-Term Residential Care For Youth
Providence Alaska will close its Crisis Recovery Center (CRC) on May 16, 2025. The 16-bed center provides short-term, residential care for youth experiencing acute mental health crisis. The organization said the closure was due to the loss of a $1.2 million federal grant on March 24, 2025.
Since opening in 2007, the CRC has served about 100 youth annually, whose stays last an average of three to seven days. While in residence, the youth work with therapists and continue with school work. The CRC has quiet rooms for activities and space for art projects.
