Regional Reentry Center Receives Grant For Vivitrol, A Drug To Combat Addiction
The Maine Coastal Regional Reentry Center (MCRRC) was recently awarded a $20,000 grant by United Midcoast Charities (UMC). MCRRC will use the funds to launch a medication assisted treatment (MAT) program.
The new program will provide MAT to MCRRC residents who are about to be released from Two Bridges Regional Jail. Specifically, these individuals will receive Vivitrol, a long-acting injectable drug that helps to block opioid cravings. MCRRC anticipates that the new program will help to both combat the opioid epidemic, as well as lower recidivism rates.
