REM Iowa Acquires St. Luke’s New Horizons Program, Prevents Closure
REM Iowa (REM) recently reached an agreement to acquire St. Luke’s Living Centers’ New Horizons program, which provides long-term care to individuals with intellectual and physical disabilities. The transaction will prevent New Horizons—the only such program in the Cedar Rapids, Iowa region—from closing.
The purchase will see REM operating the 26-bed program, which provides housing for individuals with moderate to severe disabilities who need nursing services within a group living environment. With an expected completion date of February 1, the acquisition saves the New Horizons program from what would have been an early-2019 closure . . .
