On July 30, 2020, West Virginia University (WVU) Medicine Reynolds Memorial Hospital opened a new 24-bed Behavioral Health Unit in Glen Dale, West Virginia. The same day WVU Medicine Reynolds Memorial Hospital also unveiled a nine-bed expansion to the hospital’s emergency room.

The 24-bed unit facility in Glen Dale is filling a need left by the closure of the Ohio Valley Medical Center (OVMC). OVMC operated Hillcrest Behavioral Health Services, which was discontinued with the 2019 closure of OVMC and East Ohio Regional Hospital.
