Sonora Behavioral Health Hospital named Aaron Wilson, MD as chief medical officer. Dr. Wilson also serves as chief medical officer for Sierra Tucson, a residential treatment center in addiction and behavioral health care. Acadia Healthcare, operator of 586 behavioral facilities in 40 states, the United Kingdom, and Puerto Rico, is the parent company for both Sonora Behavioral Health and Sierra Tucson.
In his new position, Dr. Wilson will focus on quality of care, medical team relations, the consumer experience, and growth at Sonora Behavioral Health Hospital. He has extensive clinical experience in behavioral health and treatment program development and previously served as medical director of Archways Recovery Centers in Mesa, and medical director of Valley Hospital, a private psychiatric hospital located in Phoenix.
An active member of Arizona’s mental health community, Dr. Wilson is chairman of the Arizona Disaster Psychiatry Task Force and former president for the Arizona Psychiatric Society. He also is co-founder of the Arizona Inter-Professional Behavioral Health Collaborative.
Established in 1994, Sonora Behavioral Health is a 140-bed acute inpatient psychiatric hospital that caters to individuals who are working towards recovering from behavioral health conditions and chemical dependency issues. With services available for children, adolescents, and adults, Sonora has expanded its size and scope of programs available to meet the needs of those in Pima County and Southern Arizona.
