South Dakota Allocates $5 Million For Telemedicine Technology Grants For Long-Term Care Facilities

New South Dakota legislation allocated $5 million for telemedicine technology in the state’s assisted living communities and nursing homes. The legislation, Senate Bill 209 was signed on March 18, 2024, and goes into effect June 30, 2024.

No grant information has been released. When it is, the funding will be administered by the Secretary of the Department of Health, which will approve vouchers for facilities. The vouchers can be used to purchase and install technology and infrastructure for telemedicine.
