St. Luke’s Hospital In Des Peres Closes, Due To Financial Pressures 

St. Luke’s Hospital in Des Peres was scheduled to close permanently on August 1, officials told employees. Stated reasons included increasing financial pressure and consistently low utilization. The hospital filed a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) notice with the state on June 30, 2025. In total, 336 workers are affected by the closure. The layoff date is August 22, 2025.

St. Luke’s Hospital in Chesterfield, with nearly 500 beds, will remain open, as will medical offices in Des Peres and outpatient clinics operated by the health system.
