Steward Closes Ohio Hospital, Lays Off 468

Dallas, Texas-based Steward Health Care (Steward) recently closed Northside Regional Medical Center (Northside), its Youngstown, Ohio-based hospital. Having officially closed its doors as of September 20, the closure of Northside results in 468 individuals being laid off.

Steward initially announced back in August that it would need to close the hospital due to a significant decline in the number of consumers visiting it for care. Specifically, the facility has experienced a 71% decline in visitor volume over the past decade, as where other hospitals in the region have been experiencing increases in voluma.
